CCIWIT logoCollege of Computing and Information Women in Technology (CCIWIT)

CCIWIT (College of Computing and Information Women in Technology) is dedicated to supporting, empowering, and building community among the faculty and graduate women within CCI and encouraging girls and women to pursue undergraduate and graduate studies in the fields related to computer science, informatics, and information science.

CCIWIT offers a variety of activities and events:

  • Technology Leaders of Today Speaker Series—CCIWITUG sponsors women in various aspects of computing to speak about their work and experiences. Kathie Legg, a graduate of CCI, spoke on April 23 about politics and new media. Shawn Henry of W3C WAI spoke on January 28 about web accessibility for all. Check out the videos of her talk, available online now (Podcast and text transcription coming soon)! Please stay posted about additional upcoming events!
  • Monthly gatherings—CCIWIT and CCIWITUG meet monthly in the Patroon Room to connect in person, share support in classes, provide informal mentoring and develop a sense of community. CCIWIT generally meets the first Friday of the month for lunch. CCIWITUG generally meets the last Monday of the month, 11:30-12:30.
  • CCIWIT and CCIWITUG listservs—These online spaces are intended to be a place to share stories, find out about upcoming events and generally connect with other women in CCI. If you are CCI faculty or graduate student, to subscribe, please send an email to listserv@listserv.albany.edu with no subject line. In the body, enter only subscribe CCIWIT <your first and last names>. If you are a CCI undergraduate student, to subscribe, please send an email to listserv@listserv.albany.edu with no subject line. In the body, enter only subscribe CCIWITUG <your first and last names>. You will receive an email confirming your subscription.
