Kathie Legg and the Internet Revolution in Politics

Kathie Legg is on the front lines of the Internet revolution in politics.

Because of her interest in politics, Legg chose UAlbany for its strategic location in the state capital. Now the 2004 Political Science and Information Science graduate is a political producer at Yahoo!, where she oversees Yahoo!’s relationships with presidential candidates, campaigns and political organizations.

Her role involves working with each campaign to find new ways to use the social media platforms on Yahoo!...and it’s working. Currently, every major presidential candidate uses Yahoo! to reach supporters in different ways, including designing ads, providing answers to questions and link up to thousands of grassroots groups.

Legg is also a founder of MobileMonday DC, a chapter of the international network of mobile technology experts, and is also an author and co-editor of “The Politics-to-Go Handbook,” a guide to using that technology in campaigns.

“CCI mixes with politics in an amazing way,” she said. “The Internet and other information technology tools open the door to true democratization.”
