It is occasionally necessary to bring down the network file servers provided by CAS Computing to perform maintenance. This will affect access to the College's network shares and network printers. Users will still be able to work locally on their computers.
Regular Maintenance to Apply Security Patches
CAS Computing follows the ITS Windows servers maintenance schedule of performing maintenance on the Thursday after the second Tuesday of each month from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Actual downtime will usually be no longer than 30 minutes but longer downtimes may occur periodically.
Maintenance is most often needed due to updates or patches for the server operating system. These are available as often as once a month. These updates and patches may be vital to network and server security thus making it extremely important to apply them as soon as possible. Server maintenance will not occur every month but CAS Computing reserves the right to interrupt services during this period.
Planned Outages Outside of Regularly Scheduled Maintenance
Information regarding any planned outages outside of the above time period will be posted on our news page, http://www.albany.edu/cascomp/news.php. Email will also be sent to the faculty and staff in the College notifying users of the CAS Computing will make every attempt to give at least 24 hours’ notice for these outages.
If a server goes down or some other unplanned outage occurs, a notice will be posted to the CAS Computing Web Page (http://www.albany.edu/cascomp
). Updates will be posted periodically until services return.
ITS maintains the email servers, Blackboard, IAS, Nolij, MyUAlbany, and many other services. Information regarding their scheduled downtimes is posted on the ITS Systems Maintenance page(https://wiki.albany.edu/display/itssystemsstatus/Systems+Status+and+Scheduled+Maintenance
