Purchasing Computers, Related Equipment and Software

Please contact CAS Computing prior to purchasing hardware or software.  We may be aware of sources for cheaper pricing and will assist in ensuring that items purchased will work with the University's technology infrastructure. 

Office of Equipment Management (OEM) Forms

  • All forms are located on the OEM web page.
  • New computers require a New Asset Receipt Form.
  • Laptops and University computers located off campus require an Off Campus Use Authorization Form.

New Faculty

Since it takes some time to obtain a procurement card, CAS Computing will make purchases for new faculty and then transfer the expenditure to the appropriate startup account.

Purchasing Computers

Fill out this form with as much information as possible and submit by clicking the button on the bottom. CAS Computing will respond with a quote(s) or will contact you for a meeting if requested. If the chosen computer(s) is a Dell or Apple, CAS Computing will order the computer(s) and then transfer the expenditure to an account you specify. For other brands, the user may be able to order the computer directly. All computers will be delivered to CAS Computing Biology 001 for configuration.

Purchasing Large/Departmental Multi-Function Printers (MFPs)

  • Please consult with CAS Computing before purchase.
  • Toshiba (518-595-3745) and Konica Minolta Business (800-456-6422 ext. 2519) are on state contract.
  • If you want CAS Computing to manage scanning and copying, purchase a Papercut license by calling Toshiba (518-595-3745).
  • For all brands of MFPs, purchase a support contract from the vendor to cover hardware repairs.
  • Have the MFP delivered to your location.
  • Once the MFP arrives, contact CAS Computing for installation.

Purchasing Software

  • ITS offers software at reduced pricing for university owned computers and some software for personal computers, click here for more information.
  • If the software is not available on the ITS website, go to the company‚Äôs website to see if academic pricing is available.
