Larry Snyder & Ron Bosco join Dean's Advisory Board

In 2013-2014, Professor Emeriti Lawrence Snyder and Distinguished Professor Emeriti Ron Bosco joined the Dean's Advisory Board in the College of Arts and Sciences. As members, they will serve as advocates for the College mission and its commitment to a quality liberal arts education. 

The Dean's Advisory Board serves as a direct resource to the Dean to advance the College’s position as the core academic unit within the University. Begun under Dean Joan Wick-Pelletier and continued under Dean Edelgard Wulfert, Board members provide counsel to the Dean on topics such as strategic planning, alumni relations, fund raising, marketing, and communications. Above all, the Board serves to establish and maintain strong ties among alumni, friends, faculty, students, and staff.


Larry Snyder

Lawrence Snyder, Ph.D.

Lawrence Snyder joined the faculty of the University as a full professor and chair of the Chemistry department in 1980. Prior to his appointment at UAlbany, Dr. Snyder had been on the technical staff of Bell Laboratories since 1959, the year he received his Ph.D. from the Carnegie Institute of Technology (became part of Carnegie Mellon University in 1965).  

Over the course of his career, Dr. Snyder has authored 118 papers and was a member of several professional and scientific societies. He served as a member of a planning committee and chaired a workshop for the National Academy of Sciences on the need for a national resource for computation in chemistry. and has over his career. Dr. Snyder retired from the University in 2009 as Professor Emeritus of Chemistry and was an O’Leary Professor until December 2012. 


Ron Bosco

Ronald Bosco, Ph.D.

Ron Bosco is a scholar of American intellectual and literary history from the seventeenth through the nineteenth centuries, and the theory and practice of textual and documentary editing. He is noted for being one of the world’s leading authorities on 19th-century essayist Ralph Waldo Emerson. Dr. Bosco is has been general editor of The Collected Works of Ralph Waldo Emerson, Harvard University Press, since 2003 and editor of the Emerson Family Papers at Houghton Library, Harvard University, since 1977.

Dr. Bosco joined the faculty of the University at Albany in 1975 and is now Distinguished Professor Emeritus and Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus of English, a Collins Fellow, and was Grand Marshal of the University until his retirement.
