Assistant Professor of Anthropology Sharon DeWitte
(pictured above) from the University at Albany coauthored
a report on Europe's Black Death of 1347 to 1351.
The article was recently published in the Proceedings
of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) and offers
an alternative perspective that refutes earlier
findings. DeWitte and James Wood of the Pennsylvania
State University suggest that the deadly plague
targeted individuals who were already
sick or otherwise weak.
