Among the awardees is Joseph Bocanegra, a PhD candidate in the Department of Economics from University of Albany. His proposal was selected from a national pool from diverse disciplines. His research seeks to improve upon the forecasting models for disability enrollment to allow for the efficient allocation of staff and resources available to the Social Security Administration. Joseph Bocanegra’s faculty mentor for this research project is UAlbany’s distinguished faculty member Dr. Kajal Lahiri. Dr. Lahiri is a leading expert in the field of econometrics, forecasting and disability studies.
