rnalogo
When: 9:00 am on Friday, November 5th
Where: D’Ambra Auditorium of the Life Sciences building, UAlbany uptown campus
Why: To officially launch The RNA Institute Mass Spectrometry (MS) Center

The Center is dedicated to the study of RNA structure and its interaction with RNA, DNA, and proteins. The RNA Institute MS Center is one of many resources within the Institute, that combined are providing an impetus for early phase, novel RNA-based drug discovery. This new paradigm of discovery, development, and delivery of innovative medicines, vaccines, and diagnostics is crucial to the treatment of the most difficult and neglected human diseases.

Keynote speakers:

  • Dr. Fred McLafferty, one the true pioneers of modern mass spectrometry, will talk about "Protein Characterization by Top-Down Mass Spectrometry." [McLafferty PDF]
  • Dr. Paul Vouros, renown worldwide for the development of highly sensitive techniques for nucleic acid analysis, which involve the interfacing of separation methods with mass spectrometry will talk about "Analyzing DNA Adducts at the Trace Level; Challenges and Implications." [Vouros PDF]
  • Dr. Jack Henion, an internationally recognized leader in the field of MS and LC-MS, will talk about "Automated Liquid Extraction Surface Analysis (LESA) Combined with nESI-MS as a Novel Tool for Analyzing Surfaces." [Henion PDF]

OPEN TO THE PUBLIC:
