Professors John Molinari, Chris Thorncroft, Lance Bosart, Dan Keyser, and Paul Roundy from the Department of Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences, along with their graduate students, recently took part in the Fourth Northeast Tropical Conference in Rensselaerville, NY from June 23-26, 2009.
Participants were faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students from Harvard, MIT, University of Rhode Island, Columbia, Princeton, Penn State, Skidmore, and the University at Albany.
One of the goals of the conference was to provide as much discussion time as presentation time. The presentations encompassed tropical cyclones, tropical meteorology, and climate.
The conference is run by Prof. Kerry Emanuel of the Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences at MIT and Prof. John Molinari of the Department of Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences at the University at Albany. It is held every other year, alternating between the Boston area and Rensselaerville.
