College of Arts and Sciences Dean Edelgard Wulfert presided over the luncheon, thanking Mr. Maheshwari for his support and commitment to higher education. She noted that Mr. Maheshwari’s endowment of a colloquium series is illustrative of the desire of many alumni to “give back through philanthropy.” Provost Susan Phillips presented a plaque to Man Mohan and Asha Devi Maheshwari in recognition of the endowment. Professor Kehe Zhu, Chair of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics addressed the gathering, noting that the colloquium series would raise the profile of the Department by bringing top notch scholars to campus to interact with both students and faculty. Mathematics Professor Marco Varisco, chair of the colloquium committee, spoke of plans for the series. Carly Anderson, a graduate student in the Department, attended the luncheon, providing a student’s perspective on the importance of the colloquium series to the program. |

Man Mohan and Asha Devi Maheshwari are longtime supporters of education, having for years provided financial support to students studying in India and abroad. Mr. Maheshwari encouraged his son, Raj, to collaborate with other alumni to increase donations to the University. |

Also attending the event were Mr. Raj Maheshwari’s wife, Dr. Sarita Singh, and their three children Neil, Nikhil, and Sanjana; his father-in-law, Shai Singh; his sister, Rajni Lohiya; his niece, Antika Singh; his cousin, Sangeeta Singh; and family friends Almudena Guerra and Josele Suarez De Leso. |
