Nadia Kizenko and Marco Varisco Receive Dean's Award for Outstanding Achievement in Teaching

Professors Kizenko and Varisco were chosen based on their sustained excellence in classroom teaching as revealed by grade-distributions, course assignments, syllabi, student comments, innovative approaches, and teaching philosophy.

Sustained excellence in the supervision of students for independent study, theses, and dissertations were also important. Both of this year's recipients each taught 15 or more different courses over their careers at UAlbany. They were selected from a pool of five exceptional nominations from throughout the College, all of whom possessed superb teaching records. A committee consisting of six faculty members from the Arts & Humanities, Social Sciences, and the Sciences & Mathematics reviewed those nominations. All committee members were previous recipients of teaching awards from the College and/or University.
