Jeffrey Berman’s book Confidentiality and Its Discontents: Dilemmas of Privacy in Psychotherapy, coauthored with Paul Mosher, received the American Psychoanalytic Associations 2017 Book Prize, awarded to the book that “best promotes the integration of the academic and clinical worlds of psychoanalysis.” A review in the Journal of the American Psychoanalytic Association described the book as an “excellent account of confidentiality,” a “must-read for all clinicians, especially those who struggle with this issue as the actors in these stories did.” In 2014 Jeff became an Honorary Member of the American Psychoanalytic Association, one of a handful of nontherapists to receive this recognition.
