One-on-one Counseling

Career Counselors are available to talk with alumni about any career-related topic. You can make an appointment to meet with a counselor during our regular business hours. Counseling appointments for alumni are usually for 60 minutes and are confidential. You can meet with a counselor in person or if you are not local, you can schedule a phone appointment.

If you wish to practice or refine your interviewing skills, consider scheduling a mock interview. You can schedule a mock interview in person or by calling Career Services. You will need to provide a copy of your resume and information about the job for which you will be "interviewing." This helps the counselor to prepare appropriate questions. To get the most out of a mock interview you should treat it like a real interview. Show up early and dress for success.

If you have a quick question or wish to have either your cover letter, resume, or personal statement critiqued, you can stop by during our drop-in hours. Drop-in hours are held every weekday, and are designed for quick (less than 10 minutes) questions and reviews.

To schedule an appointment, stop by the Career Services office in the Science Library Room G50 or call 437-4900. Our drop-in hours are

Mon. - Wed. - Fri.: 10:00am - 12:00noon
Tues. - Thurs.: 1:00pm - 3:00pm

Career Assessment Tools

Career Services offers different types of online assessment tools that help you explore skills, interests, values, and possible career paths. No test can tell you what career you are supposed to have, but many people find it helpful to have a personalized list of options from which to choose. If you are interested in taking an assessment, set up an appointment with a counselor so that together you can determine which test is right for you. After you take the assessment, you will meet with that same counselor again to go through your results and discuss your next steps.

Website and UA Career Path

The Career Services website has a variety of career-related resources for our students and alumni. These resources can help you explore different career options, develop your resume and cover letter, prepare for an interview and look for a job. There is an online employment site titled UA CareerPath, that allows you to both look for and apply to specific job opportunities. Alumni can upload their resumes and cover letters and search the job postings. Alumni who also are employers may post open positions at no charge. Our website also includes a variety of presentations on career topics. We also have resources for alumni who are interested in furthering their education and want to research graduate programs.

We are continuously updating our website so check it often and send us your comments. To register as an employer, please follow the instruction on our employer site.
