Body Fat Screening

May 3rd: 11am – 12pm Colonial

SEFCU Fitness Center, Colonial Quad Fitness Center, Indian Quad Fitness Center

This screening is done by using a handheld device.

Spin 'n' Glow

Tuesday, April 18th, 7pm

Spin Studio, Physical Education Building

We will be transforming our Spin room into a glow-in-the-dark space. Be sure to wear white or neon. We will be providing glow necklaces and bracelets at the door. Space is limited to 15 participants per class.

90's Spin

Tuesday, March 28th, 7pm

Spin Studio, Physical Education Building

Come relive with the 90’s with a themed spin class. Space is limited to 15 participants. Registration is required - email: fitness@albany.edu to reserve your bike.

Small Group Training

Session 2: March 26th – May 4th


Interested in learning more about training and exercise? Join our free 6 week small group training. This class will meet once a week in our Functional Fitness Studio. Space is limited to 8 participants per session. To register email fitness@albany.edu by February 3rd for Session 1 and March 24th for Session 2. Complete all 6 weeks and receive a prize!

Celebrate Every Body Week

February 28th: 4:30pm - 8pm

Dance Studio, Physical Education Building

Join Campus Recreation and Counseling and Psychological Services to Celebrate Every Body! Drop into a Group Exercise Class (Yoga, Zumba, or Salsa), and appreciate the way your body moves and feels during exercise. Instructors will lead a mindful practice. Come to one class, or stay for all!

Fit-Fair

February 27th: 5pm - 7pm

PE Gymnasium

Health and fitness fair designed to address the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. There will be interactive and fun tables focusing on physical, mental, and heart health, nutrition, and more! There will be fun giveaways, t-shirts, & more!

Small Group Training

Session 1: February 7th – March 21st, Tuesday 7pm – 8pm

Physical Education Building

Do you enjoy going to group exercise classes, especially Yoga? Ever considered teaching your own class? Now you can! This instructor training program is available to the first 4 UAlbany students who sign up, that are not seniors. This free, 10 week program will cover the breathing techniques, poses, sun salutations, and sequencing. Yoga Instructor Training will begin the week of 2/13, date and time is dependent on student availability.

Group Exercise Instructor Training

Do you enjoy going to group exercise classes? Ever considered teaching your own class? Now you can! GXIT is available to the first 5 UAlbany students who sign up. This free, 8 week program will cover the fundamentals of exercise, formatting a class, and how to teach a variety of formats such as cycle, muscle conditioning, yoga, and more. GXIT will begin the week of 2/13, date and time is dependent on student availability.

Spring Into Fitness

February 6th – March 10th

Fitness Centers, Group Exercise Classes

Winter blues? Join Campus Recreation in this 5 week Fitness Challenge! Attend 10 group exercise classes and use the fitness centers 15 times to complete the challenge. We will measure your body fat and fitness levels at the beginning and end of the program. Receive a prize when you maintain or improve your levels.

Yoga Instructor Training

Barre Connect Specialty Certification

Sunday, December 4th, 8am-5pm

Dance Studio, Physical Education Building

You will learn the fundamentals necessary to design safe and effective multi-level Barre Connect classes. Leave with a deep understanding of the science, technique, and 4 main components behind Barre Connect. Discover how to connect the components of Ballet & Dance Technique, Yoga Postures, Functional Strength Exercises, and Cardiovascular Training to create a FUN, total body workout.

NETA Group Exercise Certification

Saturday, December 3rd, 8am-5pm

Fitness Center Challenge

Getting ready for all the good Thanksgiving food? Come into any Fitness Center at least 10 days November 7th - November 18th to complete the challenge. This program is open to any student (undergraduate and graduate) with a current campus recreation membership.

Yoga Therapy Balls

Yoga Therapy Balls offer powerful practices of myofascial release to address the “issues in your tissues.” They will help to ease tension, decrease tightness, increase range of motion, and invite a deep relaxation. This roll-out will include the whole body and we will finish with some Yin and restorative poses leaving you feeling refreshed and renewed.

Pink Zumba
