Media Advisory: Neighbors, Students Help UAlbany Unveil its Purple Path
ALBANY, N.Y. (October 18, 2007)
What:
The University at Albany introduces its multi-use Purple Path, which is being constructed for campus and community use, including walking, jogging, and navigating the UAlbany campus. The three-mile Purple Path will eventually loop around the inner perimeter of University Drive and make UAlbany a more sustainable and safe environment.

Background:
The concept for the Purple Path was developed by the Purple Path Planning Studio, a graduate studio of the Department of Geography and Planning, which won an American Planning Association Regional Award for the design. Construction on the first section -- which stretches one-third of a mile from the corner of the baseball field to the entrance of the SEFCU Arena parking lot -- is expected to be completed in December.
