UAlbany Psychological Services Center Opens New Facility
ALBANY, N.Y. (April 17, 2007) -- The University at Albany opened the doors of a new home for the Psychological Services Center (PSC), a training facility for UAlbany doctoral students in clinical and counseling psychology which provides low-cost services throughout the Capital Region from childhood through adulthood.
The center offers mental health services, including a broad range of psychological interventions, including psychotherapy, cognitive behavior therapy, career counseling, couples and family therapy, as well as psychological assessments including personality, neuropsychological, and learning disability assessment. The center also provides many learning assessments for students in local colleges and universities.
The center's new location (299 Washington Avenue) expands treatment facilities and provides a modern, state-of-the-art clinic, including digital video recording system. PSC also offers expanded evening hours to better serve clients. The center was formerly located at the University's downtown campus.
"I am delighted to celebrate this new home for the Psychological Services Center at the University at Albany," said University at Albany Provost and Officer in Charge Susan Herbst. "I also applaud the faculty and staff of the center for the significant contributions they make every day to UAlbany, and more importantly the members of our community."

"Our students go through extensive hands-on training under the guidance of faculty, and in the process provide an exceptional benefit to our surrounding community."

"I applaud the faculty and staff of the center for their dedication and wish them well as they move into their new location."

The Psychological Services Center has served community members for since 1979. The center offers low-cost, sliding scale mental health services to the greater Capital Region, including individual psychotherapy for children, adolescents, and adults, family therapy, couples therapy, psychodiagnostic testing, as well as vocational testing and career services.
