Background:
The Elder Network of the Capital Region (ENCR) was established in 2003 to work with community partners to enhance the health, well-being and quality of life for elders in Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga and Schenectady counties, and to educate the public about the range of community resources that can best meet the interests and needs of seniors in transition. ENCR was created to foster a regional approach for communities to readily accommodate and provide services choices for seniors to remain independent in the community, allowing older adults in transition the option to live well, preferably at home, and avoid costly institutional and long-term care services.
