Dr. Campbell currently teaches History at Excelsior College and the University at Albany. She previously spent 30 years as Chief Curator for the New York State Bureau of Historic Sites. She is also past-President of the Costume Society of America (http://www.costumesocietyamerica.com/), an organization that advances the global understanding of all aspects of dress and appearance. Her first book Mistresses of the Transient Hearth: American Army Officers’ Wives and Material Culture, 1840-1880 was published by Routledge in 2005. Campbell has also contributed articles to two ABC-Clio publications:
World of a Slave [2Vols] Encyclopedia of the Material Life of Slaves in the United States (2010) and
Encyclopedia of American Women at War: From the Home Front to the Battlefields (2013).
