Advisory Board Member Profile: John A. Bonafide

Historic Preservation Services Coordinator

John A. Bonafide holds a Masters degree in Public History from the New York State University at Albany. He has been with the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) since 1987. John manages SHPO's Architectural Technical Review and Archaeological Units and oversees the Bureau's federal and state compliance programs. He is also responsible for the ongoing development and implementation of the Field Services Bureau's Information systems and web site. John represents the SHPO on an ad hoc committee of state agencies involved with Wind Power development and was named to the New York State Building Code Committee. In the private sector he sits on the Thomas Cole National Historic Site Board of Advisors, has served as a town historian, chaired local planning and zoning boards and served on a local school board. He is also an adjunct faculty member at SUNY Albany.
