RESOURCES FOR MONROE COUNTY LOCAL HISTORY

• The Jean B. Lang Western N.Y. Historical Collection   contains historical and genealogical information for the Western New York area, with an emphasis on Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Monroe, and Steuben counties.
• Journal of Rochester History  is a valuable resource for the history of Rochester and western New York.  Journal articles written from 1939 to 2000 are available online.
• University of Rochester Department of Rare Books and Special Collections History  includes:
  1. The Farmers' Library of Wheatland in Monroe County includes minutes, treasurer's accounts, catalogues of books, and membership rolls from 1805 to 1870.
  2. Approximately 1500 local Histories. The collection is "strongest in materials relating to Rochester and Monroe County and the adjacent counties."
