Since our freshmen year we have been anticipating the opening of the new School of Business building.

During the past year, this anticipation has grown into reality due to the continued commitment of our School of Business alumni, donors and especially John Levato. His vision and passion helped to create not only a state of the art facility, but also a unique, tight-knit environment. Since his very first day in the School of Business, Mr. Levato dedicated his time and energy to each and every student he crossed paths with. He was a compassionate mentor and friend to both of us throughout our collegiate years and we are eternally grateful for the opportunities and advice he provided to us. He will be greatly missed.

We were first introduced to Mr. Levato as freshmen when we pledged the international professional fraternity of Delta Sigma Pi. He served as Chapter Advisor for nearly 35 years and was admired and appreciated by all of the brothers. Our time in Delta Sigma Pi led each of us to presidencies where we were able to evolve as leaders in the School of Business. Furthermore, this experience instilled in us the importance of giving back and contributing to the students of tomorrow.

We have grown to love the university so much that both of us decided to interview to become ambassadors of the university through the Purple and Gold program. We were lucky enough to be selected as spokespeople for the university, which has given us the opportunity to attend high profile university events. This unique experience has allowed us to develop lasting relationships with UAlbany alumni like Richelle Konian ’95 and Evan Maltese ’90.

UAlbany alumni have helped us transition into ttime offers with the most prestigious firms in the business realm, but they are also looking to continue the example that has been set by our alums: 100% of the Financial Analyst Honors Program Class of 2013 contributed to the school.

The one profound connection we all share as School of Business students and graduates is the impact of John Levato. His guidance allowed us to become better students and professionals, but more importantly, better people.

The John Levato Scholarship
John would be pleased that students and alumni have come together to create an award in his name. These students and alumni appreciate all that John did to prepare students to enter the competitive workforce. They created an endowed scholarship in his honor, providing financial assistance to high achieving students in the School of Business.
