More News from the Dean's Desk

Dear Colleagues and Friends of the School of Business at U-Albany:

I have some more exciting news to share with you regarding faculty accomplishments, the new business school building, and major gifts:

  1. School of Business Maintains Prestigious AACSB Dual Accreditation in Business Administration and Accounting-Last Friday, I received an email from Dr. Andrew Policano (my former Dean at Stony Brook), Chair-AACSB International Board of Directors, officially informing us that, after a rigorous review, the School of Business has maintained its dual accreditation in business administration and accounting.  The University at Albany is one of only three public universities in New York State with dual AACSB accreditation in business administration and accounting (the University at Buffalo, SUNY and Baruch are the other two).  This is an elite distinction shared by fewer than 2% of world’s 13,000 business schools. The review teams cited the excellence of our academic programs, faculty, students, alumni, corporate connections, and positive momentum in student quality, research, fund-raising (including grants, contracts, and sponsored research), collaboration with other colleges at the university,  and community outreach.  A school-wide celebration will take place at the end of the semester. I want to especially thank Vice Dean for Administration and Sustainability Linda Krzykowski, who coordinated our accreditation process, and Professor Ingrid Fisher, Chair of the Department of Accounting and Law, who spearheaded the accounting accreditation, for their staunch efforts.
  2. President Philip Officially Approves New Undergraduate Concentration in Entrepreneurship-I am pleased to report that our undergraduate concentration in entrepreneurship was officially approved today by President George M. Congratulations to William Brigham, Director of SBDC, and Professor Paul Miesing who designed this program for their staunch efforts to secure financial support for this worthy initiative.
