3.

What are the requirements to apply to Graduate School?

Applicants to the School of Business must have a bachelor's degree or the equivalent from a college or university of recognized standing. Application requirements include:
- A completed application form (available online)
- Official transcripts for all previous college work
- Three letters of recommendation
- Scores from the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)
- The average score for the GMAT is 570

For INTERNATIONAL applicants ONLY:
- Scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
- The minimum requirement for the TOEFL is 580 or 240 on the computer-based exam. If you earned your undergraduate degree at a university in an English-speaking country, you may be exempt from taking the TOEFL.
- You will be required to take a SPEAK test during International Student Orientation.
- Citizens of foreign countries, whether currently enrolled in a U.S. university or not, must certify that they will have sufficient funds for each year of study.
- Students must complete the equivalent of a 4 year baccalaureate degree program.

Where do I find out about the GMAT test?

For information on the GMAT, call 1-800-GMATNOW or write: GMAT, Educational Testing Service, P.O. Box 6103, Princeton, NJ 08541-6103.

If I've taken the GMAT but the scores won't be available before the application deadline, can I submit the application without these scores?

You may submit the application with a note indicating that the scores will be submitted upon receipt; however, your application cannot be given consideration at the departmental level until the scores arrive.

Do I have to have a Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting to apply for admission?

Both the MBA and MS 2-year in Accounting programs are structured so students with ANY prior academic background can successfully complete our program. This provides us the opportunity to educate students from all different walks of life and adds to the diversity and complexity of our classes.

When can I apply to the graduate program in the School of Business?

If funding is required, the application deadline for fall admission to the School of Business is March 1 for domestic students. If no funding is required, the application deadline is April 1 . For international students the deadline is March 1 .

Do all classes start in the fall, or is there a possibility to start in summer or spring?

For the full-time programs, all classes begin in the fall. For the evening programs, students can begin in fall, spring, or summer.

How do I apply for an assistantship?

To apply for a graduate/teaching assistantship, check the appropriate box on the graduate application form. General information may be obtained from the Office of Graduate Studies, University Administration Building (518) 442-3980 or go to the Student Resources/ Forms Download section.

14.

Once I'm admitted full-time, will I have to maintain continuous registration?

All full-time graduate students admitted to a degree program must register for each semester (excluding summer) until all degree requirements have been completed. Students who fail to maintain continuous registration, unless granted a formal leave of absence, are ineligible to resume graduate study until they have been readmitted.

Can I take a course at the University at Albany without applying for a degree program?

Yes! Students may take up to 12 credits as a nonmatriculated student. No degrees or graduate assistantships are granted to nonmatriculated students. Admission for nonmatriculated status is a fairly brief procedure requiring the completion of a short application form, resume, and proof of a bachelor's degree.

The average class sizes are as follows:
- Full-time MBA program - 50
- Full-time Accounting/Tax - 20
