The Curriculum: MS Accounting 1 year Program

A typical program for a student accepted into full-time graduate study requires the completion of 30 credits. Most students complete the course work in one-year, while others study part-time and complete the program in two or more years. A typical program would include the following courses:

Upon completion of the program, students may be eligible to petition the State Licensing Board for a waiver of one year of work-experience, a component necessary for certified public accountant (CPA) licensure in New York State (available through August 1, 2009). In addition, the coursework may satisfy the 150-hour requirement rule for the CPA examination in effect in most states (Note: Educational requirements to sit for the CPA examination are unique to each state. Currently, 48 states require candidates for the CPA examination to have completed 150 hours of college-level credits. New York State will require the 150-hour criteria beginning August 1, 2009).
