Program Overview- Full Time MBA
The University at Albany School of Business full-time MBA program
requires the completion of 61 credits (up to 10 credits can be waived)
and takes four semesters to complete. The first two semesters provide a
broad base of core management education. During the specialization phase
in the final two semesters, students take electives and concentrate in
one of three information-related functional areas: Information Technology
Management, Human Resources Information Systems and Information Assurance. Students personalize
their degree with elective coursework in marketing (e.g., internet
marketing), finance (i.e. international finance) and other areas.
Throughout its curriculum, Albany's MBA program nurtures students in
four important ways:
- Development of critical thinking skills and ethical behavior suited for a global environment;
- Understanding of the interrelationships among the functional areas of business;
- Honing technical skills in quantitative analysis and personal computer software use; and
- Fostering people skills through team work assignments and opportunities to persuade others through oral presentations and written analyses of business problems.
Admission Requirements
Applicants to the School of Business must have a bachelor's degree or
the equivalent from a college or university of recognized standing.
Application requirements include:
- A completed application form (available online)
- Official transcripts for all previous college work
- Three letters of recommendation
- Scores from the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)
- The average score for the GMAT is 570
For INTERNATIONAL applicants ONLY:
- Scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
- The minimum requirement for the TOEFL is 600 or 250 the computer-based exam. If you earned your undergraduate degree at a university in an English-speaking country, you may be exempt from taking the TOEFL.
- You will be required to take a SPEAK test during International Student Orientation.
- Citizens of foreign countries, whether currently enrolled in a U.S. university or not, must certify that they will have sufficient funds for each year of study.
- Students must complete the equivalent of a 4 year baccalaureate degree program.
