Evening MBA: Degree Requirements & Course Descriptions

The courses listed below are the current requirements for degree completion for the Evening MBA Program. To help you plan, we have designated the semesters these courses tend to be offered. The School of Business at the University at Albany reserves the right to change the schedule but will attempt to offer sufficient course work to allow students to complete their degree requirements in a timely manner. Skills: 3 Credits

  • ITM 510 Advanced Excel with Visual Basic for Applications, 1 credit  (spring, summer)
  • ITM 520 Database Management, 1 credit (spring, summer)
  • BUS 523 Presentation Skills, 1 credit (spring, summer)

Foundations: 12 Credits

  • ACC 518 Accounting for Managers, 3 credits (fall, summer)
  • FIN 515 Economic Analysis, 3 credits (fall, summer)
  • ITM 513 Quantitative Analysis for Business, 3 credits (spring)
  • MGT 513 Organizational Behavior, 3 credits (fall)

Knowledge: 15 credits

  • FIN 525 Financial Management, 3 credits (spring)
  • MGT 514 Human Resources Management, 3 credits (spring)
  • MKT 522 Marketing Management, 3 credits (fall)
  • ITM 514 Operations Management, 3 credits (fall)
  • ITM 522 Managing Information Technology, 3 credits (spring)

Integration: 6 Credits

  • BUS 675 International Business, 3 credits (summer)
  • MGT 682 Strategic Management, 3 credits (spring)

Electives: 9 Credits

Three courses from those listed under Elective Tracks or other electives as offered by the School of Business throughout the year. (Courses are offered on a variety of current business topics during the fall, spring and summer semesters).

Research: 3 Credits

  • ACC 694, FIN, MGT, MKT, NV or ITM 698 Research Project (spring).
  • BUS 698 (fall) is offered only for those students graduating in the fall semester and not pursuing an elective track, and students pursuing the Nanotechnology elective track.

Total Credits: 48

Note: Two related electives and a research project in the same area constitute an Elective Track. An Elective Track is a popular way for students to fulfill their elective and research requirements.
