Evening MBA: Program Overview
The Evening MBA program is widely recognized as the premier graduate business program in the Capital District. Educating more than 200 working professionals each year, the UAlbany Evening MBA encourages both a flexible and affordable opportunity for you to hone your managerial skills while developing your professional performance level (and increasing your earning potential!).
The Evening MBA program is designed to be completed in three years. This assumes that students will take, on average, two courses in the fall and spring and one course during the summer session. Students who wish to extend their study have up to six years to complete all degree requirements; students who wish to accelerate their program of study can complete all requirements in two years. During the first two years of the program, the academic curriculum exposes students to all the functional areas of business. In the third year of the program, students take courses in strategic management and international business. As with all managerial positions, teamwork and communication skills (both written and oral) are core components of the program. The School of Business has integrated team projects into the majority of its courses. These team projects necessitate the need for additional meetings outside of class to complete assignments.
During the final year, students have the option of choosing an elective track from seven different functional areas. An elective track encourages students to further specialize their management skills in a concentrated topic.
We truly foster a friendly and accommodating environment for our students. The Evening MBA students have access to a computer lab before class and on nights and weekends. Additionally, one week each semester a "Class Breaks" reception is held. When classes break at 7:00, all students and faculty are invited to network with fellow Evening MBAs and enjoy some refreshments. Seminars are also offered to inform students of academic and programmatic offerings, including Matriculation, Elective Tracks, and International Travel.
The Evening MBA Program Director, Melissa Palmucci, works closely with students in the program from admissions and orientation through graduation. With capstone events in the program, such as the Research Forum, and graduation, Evening MBA students’ professional research and personal development is rewarded and celebrated.
