Ernst & Young Alumni Give Back
University at Albany alumni employed by Ernst & Young have contributed over $400k to the School of Business over the last five years, through an in-house funding raising campaign to fund student-related accounting initiatives. This year they raised $120k.

Deloitte & Touche Sponsors Event for Incoming Freshman
In April, Deloitte hosted a reception at their New York offices for the incoming class of Direct Admit students, high achieving high school seniors who have identified business or accounting as their major. Now in its sixth year, the School of Business Freshman Admit program was the first academic unit at UAlbany to unconditionally admit students at the start of their college education.

Students Visit Federal Reserve Bank

| In October, Associate Professor David Smith took 28 students to the New York Federal Reserve Bank and Oppenheimer's headquarters, where they met alumnus John Sturges ’79, Director of Investments for Oppenheimer & Co. The Center for Institutional Investment Management sponsored the trip. Sturges recently visited campus to speak on “Context for Value Investors: Market Drivers and Perceptions,” and then hosted students at his office in NYC for a follow-up presentation titled “Stock Selection and Analysis.” One student said, “I found your techniques for stock analysis and selection to be insightful, and the value approach presented seems far more logical than others I've come across. I learned a great deal from these past two meetings, and I hope to utilize your techniques in screening stocks for the Investment Group.” |

NYSERDA representative Greg Pedrick spoke to MBA students about the sustainability efforts in place at his organization, including the types of technology being used to channel new sources of energy, including solar, wind, geothermal, and nuclear.
Dean Donald Siegel presented an ethics seminar entitled: “An Empirical Analysis of the Strategic Use of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).” Or “Green Management Matters Only if it Yields More Green.” Click here for the PowerPoint presentation.

MBAs Tour Target Distribution Center

The MBA class of 2011 toured the Target Distribution Center. The tour covered many aspects of operations including inventory processes, shipment deliveries, and how information technology is used to manage processes.
Junior Achievement Bowl-a-thon

Universidad del Salvador in Buenos Aires
Five MBA students from the Universidad del Salvador in Buenos Aires came to UAlbany for a one week exchange program. They participated in weekend and evening MBA classes and toured the Nanotechnology complex.

Sanjay Goel recipient of $25,000 AT&T Industrial Ecology Faculty Fellowship.
School of Business Associate Professor Sanjay Goel is one of three recipients of a prestigious $25,000 AT&T Industrial Ecology Faculty Fellowship. His project is also supported by funding from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) worth $105,945, which includes support from UAlbany.

MBA Class of 2011 teambuilding graduation orientation
Each fall the incoming MBA class starts the year with teambuilding- high and low ropes courses to help the students get to know and challenge and support each other. This is the class of 2011.
E&Y and School Alumni Ernst to contribute $100,000 to UAlbany
UAlbany School of Business alumni at Ernst &Young combined efforts with the Ernst & Young Foundation to contribute $100,000 to the school. Part of the support will be used to provide resources for a communication class for accounting majors, as well as mentoring, and career and faculty development.
