Full-Time MBA: Student Profile

Students entering the Full-Time MBA Program are seeking to launch a career based on the use of information technology to manage people, products, and projects. Some are recent graduates from a wide variety of undergraduate majors (a business background is not required). Some are international students, looking to gain educational and managerial experience in the United States via field project placement. Some students have considerable work experience, but are looking to begin a new career.

All of our students have done well academically in their undergraduate years (our average undergraduate G.P.A. is a 3.4 on a 4.0 scale) and all are highly motivated to succeed. The UAlbany Full-Time MBA Program includes extensive group work so that all students will thrive in future team-based work environments. All forms of business communication are stressed: students should be articulate, possess a high degree of English fluency and have excellent writing skills. The GMAT and TOEFL (for international students) are required; our students traditionally score above the 50th percentile on the verbal and quantitative sections. Our Full-Time MBA class is a small and highly interactive cohort, (we only admit a class of approximately 35-40 students each year) resulting in a very competitive admissions process.

If this describes you, we invite you to apply.

Full-Time MBA Employment Profiles:

“The MBA program at UAlbany meant opening the door to a variety of career choices, particularly given that all the concentrations are very technology-focused. I did internships with different organizations, including the Center for International Development of SUNY, GE Plastics, and the Capital Region Global Business Network. Together with coursework and excellent faculty support, these internships assisted me in acquiring a job in consulting with Deloitte & Touche, which I am extremely excited about!” - Mihaela Muntean, Deloitte & Touche

"The skills and experiences I obtained from the MBA program at UAlbany have enabled me to excel in both my personal and professional endeavors. I would not have the growth opportunities available to me now without the hands-on contributions of the faculty, and the dedicated efforts from the staff in Career Services." - Justin Vollmer, Mercer Consulting

“My field project offered real business experience, working to deliver quality service for real business clients. The program also had a strong focus on developing complimentary business skills, such as presentation and public speaking, which have been important assets even this early in my career. The program ultimately offered me a balance – practical business opportunities, strong academics and a unique focus on building the ‘soft’ skills necessary to succeed in the business world.” - Kwaku Essel, Ernst & Young

Full-Time MBA Internship Profiles:

“Throughout the first year, we were challenged to analyze business cases in the classroom and think critically about our unique experiences outside the classroom with resume building and mock interviews. This not only prepared me for success in the interview, but also allowed me to continuously excel in my internship position.” - Tonya Rudolphsen, General Electric

“This summer, I interned with the Sales & Marketing department at SI Group. It was a great opportunity to develop my organization and communication skills by collecting large amounts of data, analyzing it, and preparing reports. I applied what I learned, from the classroom to my internship experience, toward my future success.” - Xingyan (Yvonne) Yan, SI Group, Inc.

“In the Full-Time MBA program, we were required to deliver several presentations on various topics. In the end, these presentations gave me the confidence to present to senior managers without getting flustered. In addition, the many case studies we tackled were great representations of the challenges I faced on the job. A great way to describe my first year: The internship before the internship!" - Richard Nichols, SABIC
