In June 2008, a group of full-time MBA students travelled with three professors, including Vice Dean Linda Krzykowski, to Buenos Aires, Argentina. The students earned three credit hours through this experience; partnering with Argentine MBA students on teams which evaluated the international challenges facing Argentine companies today. Their business learning extended beyond the classroom – while there the group visited local businesses, studied different business models, and learned about the economic past, present and future of Argentine business. They looked specifically at the energy industry (which is currently highly subsidized) and the national coalition on wine exportation, comparing that to the business strategies implemented by Australia. They also explored the city and immersed themselves in the cultural climate of Buenos Aires. |

"I have been privileged to lead groups of MBA students on international trips for over 10 years. Each trip is unique and with each group, I learn about new and different aspects of the business climate in the country we visit. It is so important for students to supplement what they learn in their degree program with what they learn outside the classroom. The international trips we offer students are an excellent combination of classroom learning, partnering with teams of MBAs from another country, visits and briefings with experts from the industries we are studying, and exposure to a different culture and way of life. They are phenominal learning experiences as well as a lot of fun." - Linda Krzykowski, Vice Dean, School of Business. |

"The trip to Argentina was a blast. It was interesting learning about the unique challenges that a diverse group of Argentine businesses face in a developing country who's recent history is laced with economic turmoil. Through the site visits to Argentine businesses, we gained insight into how the different political, economic, and social factors drive the way business is done there. Although rules do exist in Argentina, it's not completely apparent that they do, it is a refreshing setting" - Rory Larkin, MBA Class of '09. |
