EY Celebrates Giving Tuesday

EY matched employee gifts to result in a total of $20,000 to the School of Business.  A $25,000 challenge from Matt Philo '83, head of high yield for First State Investments, netted $44,000 for the School of Business.

PricewaterhouseCoopers Sponsors Accounting Orientation

The School of Business welcomed 240 juniors into the accounting program this fall. PricewaterhouseCoopers sponsored the day-long event, providing master of ceremonies Michael Guarnuccio, a keynote address by Partner Mitch Roschelle and the Global Beads diversity exercise by Director Paul Theus and Manager Amma Osel.

A panel on careers in accounting included: moderator Emma-Anne Millard, director at PWC, and panelists Rory Costello, principal at PWC, Judy Mester, director at Deloitte, Ethan Pfieffer, partner at PWC, Elliot Attie, partner and CFO at Trilantic North America,and Hillary Hansen, partner at EY.

Spring commencement included addresses from Joan Solotar '86, senior managing director at Blackstone Group and a student from the first graduating class of the digital forensics major, Rosa Bautista '16, who has accepted a position with EY.


TIAA CEO Interviewed by Finance Faculty

"Investing In a New Era: A Community Conversation" with UAlbany and TIAA. In April, finance faculty Dr. David Smith and Dr. Hany Shawky interviewed Rob Leary, CEO of TIAA Global Asset Management.

 

NABA and ALPFA Celebrate at Annual Dinner

 

The UAlbany chapters of the National Association of Black Accountants and the Association of Latino Professionals for Finance and Accounting met for their annual dinner in May.

Nine alumni joined current students at the dinner, including former NABA Chair of Public Relations Jabari Richards '13, staff accountant at EY, former ALPFA President Smiley Rojas-Nunez '14, Project Officer for The Working World Ngo, and former NABA President A.J. Enobakhare, advisory consultant  at EY.

Nearly 90 attended the 5th annual DSP Open, including 25 alumni, raising $3,000 toward the Delta Sigma Pi scholarship fund, bringing the four year total to $13,000.  Check out the fabulous "foresomes."
