ALPFA and NABA First Annual Achievement Dinner

The National Association of Black Accountants and the Association of Latino Professionals for Finance and Accounting joined forces for the First Annual Achievement Dinner. It was an outstanding effort – over 100 students, alumni, faculty and staff attended.

Besides celebrating student success, a panel of professionals related their experiences in the work force, and the transition from college life to real world. The students in attendance easily connected with the young successful UAlbany alumni: Christopher Onuorah Jr. ’11, ’12, Technology Analyst at Barclays Capital, Janelle Murphy ’10, ’11, Financial Services Auditor at Ernst & Young, Jennifer Mora ’10 Indirect Account Manager at Verizon Wireless, Alex Saavedra ’10, ’11 Tax Accountant at Deloitte, and Yanique Williams ’12, Enterprise Risk Services Consultant also at Deloitte.

Dr. Christopher Fernando, Co-Deputy Director of the Office of Academic Support Services, was recognized as the “ALPFA/NABA 2013 Student Ambassador.” School of Business Assistant Dean John Levato was awarded “JFK Student Champion of the Year.”

The National Association of Black Accountants works to expand the influence of minority professionals in the fields of accounting and finance. The Association of Latino Professionals for Finance and Accounting is the premier Latino organization for professionals and students in business, finance, accounting, and related professions.
