Highlights of the Fall 2012 Semester

Business StudentsDelta Sigma Pi
The 39th annual career fair attracted a record 79 companies and 763 students. Genesis Tejeda ’14, the DSP Vice President for Community Service organized an on campus Red Cross Blood Drive. 

Women Excelling In Business
WEB’s best attended event was the elevator and resume speech workshop offered by Assistant Dean John Levato. Levato advised students on resumes and how to talk to recruiters.

National Association of Black Accountants
A two-day informational program from the Sponsors for Educational Opportunity brought high attendance. SEO links qualified minority undergraduates with Wall Street firms. Members also attended the NABA Eastern Region Student Conference in Bethesda, Maryland.

Association of Latino Professionals for Finance and Accounting
ALPFA’s biggest and most successful event was “The Transition: Next Stop Corporate America.” Representatives from PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst & Young, MVP, Northwestern Mutual, and KPMG served on the panel.

Albany Business Leaders Emerging
ABLE sponsored a business plan competition and an investment competition.
University at Albany Business Mentor Program
Assistant Dean John Levato held a professional and career development seminar.

Pi Sigma Epsilon
Northwestern Mutual spoke to students about financial advisement, and Enterprise offered advice on resumes, interview skills, workplace professionalism, and networking.

American Marketing Association
The AMA’s significant event was Marketing Week, including the creation of a marketing case competition.

Beta Alpha Psi
The accounting fraternity offered technicals with Deloitte, Ernst & Young, Pricewaterhouse-Coopers, KPMG, Becker, Anchin and Grant Thornton.
