Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence
Two School of Business students are among the recipients of the State University of New York Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence. This prestigious honor recognizes students who have demonstrated the highest levels of academic excellence and made significant contributions to campus life.
Daina Migdel ’12, a business student, contributes to the life of the university through an extraordinarily wide range of activities: business, theater, music, and advising her fellow students. She is Vice President of the Dean’s Leadership Council, Secretary and Presidential Consultant of the Pre-Law Association, house manager at the Performing Arts Center, and she plays clarinet for the Pep band at football and basketball games. On campus, she tutors athletes, provides university tours to international students, and has worked as a resident assistant.
Matt Russo ’12, an accounting student, has not only excelled in his studies but he’s also taken the time to give back to the UAlbany community and surrounding region. Matt mentors high school entrepreneurs enrolled in the Young Entrepreneurs Academy, belongs to the student-created group Albany Business Leaders Emerging, has served as President of the Presidential Honors Society, and Service Chair of the Newman Association, and has participated in are the Capital District Habitat for Humanity and Students Against Destructive Decisions.
Migdel and Russo were enrolled in the Direct Admit program, which admits high achievers into the School of Business at the start of their freshman years. Both are pursuing careers in law
