Robert M. Maccarone was appointed State Director for the New York State Division of Probation and Correctional Alternatives (DPCA) by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate on February 27, 2007.

He had been serving as State Director since November, 2005 and Executive Deputy Director since May of 2002.  DPCA funds and regulates the State’s 58 County and the City of New York Probation Departments and oversees nearly 200 correctional alternative programs.  It also manages the interstate transfer of 5,000 probationers between New York and other states.

Prior to his state appointment, Mr. Maccarone served as Deputy Bureau Chief and Senior Assistant District Attorney in the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office.

Prior to that, he served as Deputy Commissioner of the Westchester County Department of Correction and Director of Criminal Justice Services for Westchester County, where he managed all county, state and federally funded criminal justice programs, including the development of the County’s comprehensive alternatives to incarceration programs. 

As the Director of Criminal Justice, he oversaw the County’s education, treatment and law enforcement strategy in addressing the drug problem and implemented the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Intelligence Center in Westchester County.

Mr. Maccarone holds a B.S. in Psychology and M.A. in Sociology from Fordham University and Juris Doctor from Pace University School of Law and was admitted to the NYS Bar in 1985.
