Current Description of Research Opportunities

The Undergraduate Research Symposium is sponsored annually in the spring semester by the Department of Biological Sciences. Students who register in the Undergraduate Research Program for at least two semesters are expected to participate. Selection is based on research performance and communication of that research in the form of an oral presentation, a poster, and a formal written paper. In 2008 the Symposium will be held on April 25. Further information on the symposium is available from the current 399/499 coordinator or the Biology Main Office. Research awards available are:

Glenn Bumpus Award: Department of Biological Sciences selects a graduating senior to represent its ideal undergraduate researcher. The person is presented with the Glenn Bumpus Award at the Honors convocation. The award consists ofcontinued recognition on the Glenn Bumpus plaque in the Biology Building and a cash prize.
