Second Annual Showcase Day: Recipients of 2023-2024 Minerva Center for High Impact Learning Awards

Biology Graduate and Undergraduate Students present research at Second Annual Showcase Day

On Tuesday, April 30, 2024, the University hosted the Second Annual Showcase Day, an event dedicated to promoting and honoring academic achievements. The day featured poster and oral presentations, fairs, performances, discussions, demonstrations, and exhibitions covering a wide array of subjects including STEM, arts and humanities, social sciences, and professional studies. Over 2,150 UAlbany students participated in the event, consisting of 590 graduate students and 1,560 undergraduates, sharing their research findings, academic endeavors, experiential learning outcomes, and creative activities.

 

During the day, the Minerva Center for High Impact Learning announced the recipients of the 2023-2024 Undergraduate Research Awards. Particularly, several majors within the Department of Biological Sciences were recognized for receiving the Fall 2023-2024 Endowed Undergraduate Research Award, the Sorrell Chesin Research Award, and the Presidential Award for Undergraduate Research. Fall 2023-2024 Endowed Undergraduate Research Award

 

This competitive Endowed Undergraduate Research Award offers up to $1,000 in funding for individual undergraduate students' research projects.

2024 Sorrell Chesin Research Award

 

The Sorrell Chesin Research Award fosters faculty-supervised undergraduate research in the life sciences, encompassing biology, chemistry, and related fields. During the spring semester, juniors and seniors are encouraged to seek $500 grants by submitting their applications.

2023-2024 Presidential Award for Undergraduate Research

 

The Presidential Award for Undergraduate Research honors outstanding research, scholarship, and creative activities undertaken by undergraduate students at UAlbany. Eligible students are nominated by their faculty mentor or advisor, and winners are chosen by their respective schools and colleges.
