Courses: Fall 2008
Bio 199 Evolution and Human Health. A 3 credit-hour seminar course.
Meets Tuesdays and Thursdys, 8:45 to 10:05 AM.
Instructor: Dr. Ing-Nang Wang.
Bio 612 Topics in Theoretical Biology: Evolutionary Ecology of
Disease.
Discussion will address
theoretical foundations of current research at the interface of evolutionary
ecology and epidemiology. Students will complete assigned reading and
organize its analysis. Specific topics may include between-host transmission
processes, within-host pathogen dynamics, free-living pathogens, disease
virulence, models of immune response, and evolution of antibiotic resistance.
The first two meetings will address alternative (competing) mathematical
formulations for transmission of infection.
A 2 credit-hour course. Day/Time TBA.
