Admission Requirements
Prerequisites:
Students entering the program must have a Bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA. For students pursuing an emphasis in biology, suggested background coursework includes genetics, evolution, and ecology, plus at least two courses in physical sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Earth or Atmospheric Sciences). Deficiencies may be filled from undergraduate courses (without graduate credit) after acceptance. Special cases may be considered by program faculty or directors. Some students will emphasize biology, while others will emphasize policy and planning.
Application and Admission:
Candidates should apply to the Department of Biological Sciences, under the same procedures as current graduate programs, including submission of University at Albany standard application forms, letters of recommendation, undergraduate transcripts, and Graduate Record Exam scores. Applications for September admissions should be submitted no later than April 1, although applications will be considered at any time. Top-ranked candidates may be eligible for assistantships and tuition scholarships. (see UAlbany's Graduate Bulletin).
