Michelle Kinns received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education/Special Education, Master of Science in Literacy, and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Educational Leadership from the College of Saint Rose.  She has taught special education for over 9 years across a variety of settings and grade levels.  Michelle has extensive knowledge teaching adolescents on the autism spectrum.  She spent two years as a special education lead teacher in a program specifically designed for adolescents with autism/Asperger's syndrome.  During that time, her focus was on providing instruction in social skills, working with families to understand the impact that autism has on their child's daily life and supports to address those challenges, and preparing her students to graduate with a Regents diploma.  Michelle has also provided professional development about autism and appropriate interventions to other teachers, paraprofessionals, parents, and administrators.
