Research Interests: Planetary-scale, synoptic-scale and mesoscale meteorology. Multiscale (time and space) weather and climate research (tropics, midlatitudes, and polar regions). Winter storms, hurricanes, organized convective systems and atmospheric predictability. Weather-climate interface. Weather analysis and forecasting process. Forecast verification, and assessment of forecaster skill.

Research Interests: Synoptic-dynamic and mesoscale meteorology; phenomenological and process studies conducted through the application of dynamical models and diagnostics to selected types of weather systems, such as extratropical and tropical cyclones, fronts, jet streaks, coherent tropopause disturbances, banded precipitation systems, and inertia-gravity waves.
