About Undergraduate Research and Field Study

At the University at Albany, research is a central part of our mission. For students, this means an expansive world of opportunities. In classrooms and in the field, students work with skilled researchers on multi-disciplinary projects and discoveries.

Research experiences are available to students from all majors, from natural sciences, to social science, to business, engineering, and the arts and humanities. On campus, there are over fifty active research labs conducting high impact research in dozens of fields including atmospheric science, computational biophysics, digital forensics, population research, and women’s studies, just to name a few. Many research opportunities are interdisciplinary and individual projects can also be developed with faculty members in any discipline.
