I am interested in cultural dynamics around biomedicine and gender, and how they are connected to issues of neoliberal capitalism and body practices. In my doctoral research, I explore beauty as a social and cultural phenomenon in which biomedicine, gender, and political economy are interrelated. More specifically, I analyze ideas of masculinity and men's bodies enhancement practices that have emerged in Colombia, with a focus on cosmetic plastic surgery and aesthetic treatments.
