The America Reads literacy program is part of the School of Education's EDU 390 / 690 Community Service Course in Education. Undergraduates, as well as graduate students, who participate in the course, are oriented and trained to be reading partners for elementary-age children in need of supplemental literacy training. Students, who fulfill the program requirements and successfully complete the course, receive 3 credits (EDU 390 for undergraduates or EDU 690 for graduate students).
