Frederick F. Wohlstein II 1942
Frederick F. Wohlstein attended the New York State College for Teachers and worked for the General Electric Co. before he enlisted in September 1942. He was a navigator-bombardier on a Mitcher B-25 when he was reported missing in action over France on August 15, 1944. After further investigation, the War Department announced that he had in fact been killed in action on that date. He was posthumously awarded the certificate of merit, the air medal, the purple heart and four oak leaf clusters.
