G. I. Wilson is a retired Marine Corps Colonel with 33 years of military service, multiple combat tours, and several years of experience in law enforcement-emergency services. He received his BA in psychology from SUNY Albany in 1971 and holds a masters degree in business and organization security from Webster University. He has taught in the Administration of Justice Department of Palomar College, San Marcos, CA. and consulted for ABC-7 Los Angeles, Knowledge and Intelligence Program Professionals (KIPP), Emergency Response Research Institute (ERRI).

He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), Marine Corps Intelligence Association (MCIA), Association of Former Intelligence Officers (AFIO), American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS), Naval Intelligence Professionals (NIP), Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals (SCIP), Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP), and serves on the Board of Directors for Bossov Ballet Theatre, San Diego County Crime Stoppers, Advisory Committee to the Secretory of Veteran Affairs (OIF/OEF) and Palomar College Education for Heroes Foundation.

He is published in numerous professional journals, appears on national television, radio, and in documentaries such 2007 Trilogy Outside The Wire. He coauthored a 1989 professional paper that coined the term “fourth generation warfare (4GW).
