  • UA CareerPath
    (Formerly MonsterTRAK) This nationwide internet service lists more than 200,000 job openings. It is offered free of charge to alumni. Companies have the option of listing positions specifically for UAlbany alumni or students. Alumni also have the option of uploading their resumes and cover letters to the UA CaeerPath system.

    To access UA CareerPath, email Noah Simon in Career Services to request access. You will need to provide the email address you prefer to use when accessing the system. You will receive registration directions by email.
  • Career Search
    CareerSearch provides information on potential employers and contacts in a variety of industries both nationally and internationally. In addition, it also offers a very helpful salary wizard. To access CareerSearch, you must first register for UA CareerPath. (See directions above.) When you have completed your registration, click on the "Job Search and Services" link on the My Profile page. You will see a "Campus Links" section in the right-hand column. Click on "CareerSearch." If you are already registered for UA CareerPath, simply sign in. You will be brought directly to the page with the CareerSearch link.

  • Startup Career Resources
    UAlbany's Startup Career Resources by Wakefield demystify the startup job search for students and young alumni. Content has been developed from conversations with hundreds of startups as well as intensive case studies of startup success stories such as Tumblr, Spotify, Microsoft, Meetup, Behance and Stack Exchange.
  • USAJobs
    This database of federal vacancy announcements is searchable by field or agency. Includes online application and resume-building assistance.

UCAN: UAlbany Career Advisory Network
UCAN is an online database that can help you tap into a world-wide network of alumni professionals. Get feedback on your career strategy and goals, expand your network, discuss industry trends and more. Alumni can access the network through the UAlbany alumni online community. Search by job type, job title, key words, area of expertise or company name. Search by city or around the world.

To access UCAN, there are two simple steps to follow.

1. Go to the online community homepage. Register for the community if you’re not already a member.
2. In the “I Want To” box located in the right-hand column, click on "Access UCAN: UAlbany Career Advisory Network," and follow the directions to begin your search.


LinkedIn
Join the UAlbany Alumni Group on LinkedIn, the leading online professional networking tool. Through this network of UAlbany alumni, you’ll find inside connections to jobs, industry experts and business partners – all through your UAlbany connection.

This free networking tool is available to UAlbany alumni only. Use it to:

  • Leverage the power of the UAlbany alumni network to connect with UAlbany alums and their non-alumni contacts.

Register directly with LinkedIn. Remember, only alumni and select members of the UAlbany community may join. Members of the group have been confirmed by Alumni Association staff as members of the UAlbany community.

Career/Job Fairs

There are a number of career fairs offered at UAlbany that are appropriate for recent alumni and students. Career Services hosts a large career fair in February in the SEFCU arena that attracts more than 100 employers. Delta Sigma Pi and Career Services also sponsor another fair in September. This day-long event involves more than 70 employers. Both fairs are open to students in all majors and alumni. The SUNY State-Wide Job Fair, usually held in April at a SUNY institution, attracts more than 100 employers to discuss full-time, intern and co-op opportunities with SUNY students and alumni. Uncubed Tech and Startup Job Fair, NYC
The Alumni Association is partnering with Uncubed to bring UAlbany alumni and students a unique job fair experience Nov. 14 in New York City. NYC Uncubed is an interactive conference about company culture and careers that offers classes, along with drinks, music, snacks, contests, and live art throughout the day. Participating companies include Tumblr, Spotify, Etsy, Yext, Shapeways, Knewton, Soundcloud, Fog Creek Software, Priceline.com and more. Learn more and register at nyc.getuncubed.com. Reference Files

Reference files can be established to house reference letters only for University at Albany students or alumni for the following reasons: application requests for K-12 and University administrative and teaching positions; and candidates seeking entrance into graduate and professional school programs. Career Services does not retain reference letters indefinitely. Reference files will be retained for five years after you open the file or five years after date of last use of the file. Career Library

The library, housed in Career Services, contains books, video cassettes, newspapers, periodicals, a job vacancy file and an internship file which provide information to support the career planning process and the job search. The collection includes information on trends, salaries and employment outlooks. Call (518) 442-4900 for more details.

Company Research Internet Sites
Review company profiles and financial information on thousands of companies. Most sites allow you to search by company name or a specific category.

Relocation and Salary Information
This site provides links to help you compute cost-of-living comparisons, estimate relocation costs, and figure salary comparisons for hundreds of cities nationwide. You can access hundreds of salary surveys or get a profile of the state and location you may be relocating to.


School of Business

The School has established an Alumni Office of Career Services aimed at increasing opportunities for business students and graduates. Services and programs being offered include lectures, round table discussions, special mailings, company lists and resume distribution.
