5K run/2.5K walk, registration and check-in will begin at 9am and the race/walk will begin
at 10am at the Athletic fields, behind the new stadium and football field.

To thank our donors for putting The World Within Reach for our students, George R. Hearst III, president of The University at Albany Foundation and Robert J. Jones, president of the University at Albany, will host a private reception for donors and student scholarship recipients, followed by the Reaching Higher, Achieving More luncheon. Donors and students will have an opportunity to mingle and have keepsake photos taken before attending the luncheon, which will recognize longtime UAlbany supporters. Registration for invite-only reception required by emailing Events Office.

The Great Dane Project Viewing

View the 19 Great Dane statues decorated by various campus departments and groups to celebrate the inauguration of our 19th President, Robert Jones.  The statues have been graciously donated by University Auxiliary Services. Eighteen Great Danes were “adopted” by various campus entities and the nineteenth was reserved as the “Community Dane” in honor of our 19th President.  The “Community Dane” was decorated on September 26th with thumb prints added by the University President, students, faculty, and staff throughout the “We are UAlbany” event.  For those that missed it, the “Community Dane” will be available again on October 18th for members of the University community to add their thumbprint.

Luis Gutierrez (D-IL-4), eleven-term U. S. Congressman from Illinois, and one of America’s preeminent champions of immigration reform and Latino civil rights, spent part of his formative years as a student at UAlbany. Known to his supporters as “El Gallito” (“The Little Rooster”) for his passionate oratory and willingness to fight for worthy causes, Gutierrez is the author of a new autobiography, Still Dreaming: My Journey from the Barrio to Capitol Hill (2013). Honest and often hilarious, the book recounts his rise from teacher, social worker, cab driver, and community activist to one of the most influential members of Congress. A leader of the Hispanic Caucus, Gutierrez serves currently on the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittees on Immigration and Border Security; and Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security.
