Frank J. Hardmeyer 1936
Frank Hardmeyer graduated from the State College for Teachers in 1936. When World War II began in Europe, he joined the Canadian Army. He was taken prisoner by the Germans at Dieppe, and spent three and half years and a POW. After his release in July 1945, he was discharged from the Canadian Army and the next day joined the American Army, only to be discharged when Japan surrendered. The war over, he returned home, married, and in 1963 resumed teaching. He taught and was an administrator at various New York public schools until his retirement in 1981.
