William S. Galbraith 1990
MAJ William S. Galbraith, serving on active duty with the United States Army and is a 1990 Albany University graduate has distinguished himself by exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding service to the United States as Support Operations Officer for the 426 Brigade Support Battalion of the 101st Airborne Division at Forward Operating Base Warrior in Kirkuk, Iraq, from 23 September 2005 to 23 September 2006 during OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM.
MAJ Galbraith’s unrivaled support mindset has been behind the success of every Brigade and Battalion combat mission during Operation Iraqi Freedom IV. He has planned and executed the Brigade’s concept of logistical support thus ensuring over 3,600 soldiers of the 1st “Bastogne” Brigade Combat Team of the 101st Airborne Division, during Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF IV) had the required logistics enablers when and where they needed it on the battlefield. His outstanding leadership and technically competence has ensured logistical support to the 1BCT which is unparalleled by its sister Brigades. He has established or improved upon critical systems in support of the Brigade Combat Team such as, the Movement Control Cell and the Brigade Logistical Synchronization Meeting; both systems have proven to be essential in the sustainment of the Brigade. He has played an instrumental role in integrating every aspect of the battalion’s core competency: the Combat Logistics Patrols. His diligence ensured the Combat Logistics Patrols maintain freedom of maneuver by planning each mission as a combined arms mission. The Brigade Support Battalion’s Combat Logistic Patrols have moved over 10,000 miles without major incident along several Main Supply Routes and Alternate Supply Routes throughout the Brigade Area of Operations thus delivering supplies to over 2,000 soldiers in outlying areas. He has planned and coordinated several training events in an attempt to better prepare the Iraqi Army to sustain themselves during large scale missions as well as garrison type operations. This well seasoned logistician and leader has built an unstoppable Support Operations Shop and his management skills have been instilled in the sections proven ability to plan on coordinate even the most complicated of plans in an extremely time constrained environment.
